Track Your Web Stats On The iPhone
August 21, 2009 by Ryan Ray
This is a battle royal between two apps that I’ve found to track your web stats. Sadly they aren’t free, but they both are easy to setup, easy to read your data, and offer some great features to boot. If you’ve ever wanted to be anywhere, doing anything, and see how your websites are doing then this is the review for you. Come and read about these apps and see which one is for you.
If you own some websites, push some feeds through feedburner, have a twitter or squarespace, or even track your money through mint. Each of these apps have something for you. This is Ego v. Analytics Pro. Of course this whole quest started just as you would think. I asked myself the question, “I want to check my web stats on the go, and not have to login to the actual analytic page. I wonder if there is an app for that, there has to be?” Bingo, I came across two apps and immediately bought them. Now I think they both offer something great enough that I think you should know about them. At the end you can checkout the video review, but now let’s talk about the apps one at a time.
I’m starting with Analytics Pro, and you want to know why? Honestly It’s the more boring of the two as far as interface goes. You all know I am a sucker for the interface. The icon for the app warns of trouble ahead and it’s true once you open the app. Just check out these screenshots below for proof…

You may say that’s not bad, but it’s not good either. Nothing worse than a luke warm interface. Anyway, functionality it all matters on how the apps function. The thing I liked about this app was it automatically pulled and correctly titled all of my websites. At the top you see the analytics account name, then below the actual domain. Tap and away you go to finding out the traffic your sites have been pulling in. Under the preferences you can choose to look at the day, week, and month. It’s pretty much Google Analytics right there, just in a weird interface. I’m also a little peeved that I paid more for this app than the next one, as you will see why soon. Analytics Pro is a worthwhile app to have, but maybe stick with the free version of it.
Next up is an app called Ego, a worthy name too. It’s called Ego because it will check the stats on most anything you have on the web. You can add your Google analytics account, Twitter accounts, Mint accounts, Feedburner accounts, even a Squarespace account. I hope that this developer keeps adding more and more to the app as it’s a promising one stop shop to get all the stats I’d ever need. I’d just use my iPhone instead of any website! Here are some shots from this interface…

Much better don’t you think? Now for all of the looks and sweet things Ego has it doesn’t have the capability to drill down and really see targeted information. This is where Analytics Pro beats it out by a long shot. In Ego you can tap on the site and it will tell you pageviews for today, yesterday, month, year. That’s where it ends though. You can see urls, keywords, etc… that Analytics Pro shows you. It offers a one stop place to grab some quick, quick stats though, and for that I’ll keep it in my app selection.
I haven’t found the perfect app just yet, and if you know of one please do me a favor and let me know. It must look good and offer a lot of drill down capabilities. Perhaps someone should combine these two apps and give it to me for free. Both apps are cheap enough to get both for under $5, and they work well together. If you are interested in stats then check these out, otherwise ignore anything and everything I’ve just said and go about carefree. Let me know what your opinion is, and please enjoy the video.
