Top 5 of 25 : Boxed In Free
August 31, 2009 by Ryan Ray
Hello to everyone again, this is the first day of classes for me. I just ate lunch and have an hour to blog and tell you about this app that was at #3 when I started the series but is sitting at spot #1 right now. Goes to show just how quickly the app store changes. This is again a game, just as sheep launcher was. It’s the free version so you, of course, only get about 5 or so levels. You can easily grab more levels if you buy the full version, which RIGHT NOW is free in the app store. Do you what you can and hurry and grab the free FULL version. As a side note don’t confuse this game titled Boxed In with another iPhone app titled Boxed-In. The hyphen is important to be aware of.
Anyway, let’s get into the app itself. As you could infer from the name, Boxed In, it’s a game where you must solve the puzzle of getting unboxed. You are this cute little robot and you must move him around boxes, pushing them, sliding them, etc… until you can get to the exit of the level. You know, the classic puzzle solving game made into an iPhone app.
There are often little silver gears in the levels that you have to get as well before you can finish. The game has little things like that that make it just a little more complicated. No worries though, with careful thought and planning you can easily beat the levels. Speaking of levels, they are grouped in 5’s. Meaning if you can’t figure out a level skip ahead to another one. This feature is helpful to refresh your brain, let it try something new. The drawback is that you can’t move on past the group of 5 if you don’t complete the 5 before it.

Here is the little robot that pushes the boxes around. By the way, you can only push and never pull a box. Remember that!

Here are the official instructions. Not a very complicated game at all if you ask me. There is also a helpful key below so you can identify the parts of the level.

Here is an actual shot of me playing this game, and a shot of one of the levels. As you can see there is an outlined box that you must move one of the boxes to. Once you do that that makes the force field disappear. You also have to move those three boxes around just right to finish the level. If you can grab the gear and push the box down then you’ll screen should look something like this below…

Take this as a hint to level three, haha. I’ve grabbed the gear, and put a box on the outlined box to disable the force field. I can now get into the exit of the level.
As you can see the game looks good, and is fun. The levels will obviously get harder as they go on. I always like a good challenge, so these types of games are made for people like me. The FULL version of the game is free right now, so I see no reason that you should be picking it up and downloading it. If you’ve played it let me know what you think. Any other comments feel free to leave as well. Have a good monday, and thanks for reading.
