Play Pocket God On Your iPhone
April 7, 2009 by Ryan Ray
Hello hello, we’re back from the weekend. I was at an ultimate tournament in Richmond, luckily I came out in 3rd place and very sore and sun burnt. I hope your weekend treated you as well as mine did. But before the weekend, during the week I had gone on an app frenzy. I often do when bored in class or at a rehearsal, I browse the app store trying to find something good. In fact one of my friends was browsing with me when we camp upon this gem. It’s been at the top of the app store for a while after it was featured. Seems to be some sort of trend, being featured pushes you to the top of the app store. One day I’ll release an app that does that. That is once I learn how to code…
Anyway this app goes by the name Pocket God, and I’m sure many of you have already played this fun little game. If you haven’t I have pity for you. It’s a great game and it comes in cheap at only $.99 so definitely spend a buck on it if it looks interesting. Let me try and explain this game now. The concept is simple, you play God and reign supreme over these little islanders. Just check out the screenshots below. There are many things you can pick from to do to these poor creatures. If you tap on the arrow in the upper right you can choose some options to wreak extra havoc on them. They are as follows;

The first one is a volcano. Put the volcano in and you can fling the islanders into the volcano. If you make three of them in there the volcano erupts shooting lava onto the rest of the islanders. It’s funny to watch. Secondly we have the storm option. With the storm you can make circles with your finger and produce a hurricane, or grab some lightning trace a path to an islander and zap them. Also very entertaining. The third option turns on the tilt sensor. With this you can tilt the iPhone and slide the islanders off of the island into the shark infested waters. The fourth one is the meteor. With the meteor you can pick it up and drop it on the islanders. It will either trap and squish them or knock them off the island into those sharky waters. The fifth one turns on and off the shark. If you have the shark on try tapping and holding the shark up out of the water then dropping it on top of an islander. The next two options turn on dance mode for the islanders which if you tap the screen in tempo they start to dance and fireworks go off, and the last option either turns off the sound or turns it on. Pretty self explanatory.
There are other things besides these options that can happen as well. You can control the day or night. The islanders sleep at night and walk around and fart during the day. As a bonus at night tap on the moon until you get a vampire bat to fly out and bite one of your islanders. He then throws everyone else off the island. To get rid of the vampire simply expose him to the sun. Also you could just throw him off the island. The sun is much more fun though. Lastly there is a coconut tree on the island, tap on the coconut to make it fall. As a tip you’ll want it to fall on an islander to break it into halves first. They will then eat it, but I like to pick up the coconut and bounce it on their heads many times.
That’s it, so far. That’s all you can do to those poor islanders. Like I said for $.99 this game is super cheap and super fun to play. I do believe the developer will be adding more as the updates come. Something I’m very excited about. So hurry and get your copy of this on your iPhone or iPod touch, it’s worth it. If you’ve played this before let me know what you think. Leave a comment and discuss it.

Let me see a islanders in grass skirts surrounded by statues unique to the Easter Islands – way to go racist America – did you run out of people to demean that you had to go to the Pacific as well?
Sorry for your harsh feelings towards Pocket God. I don’t believe the developer meant any racism with the game.
