I’ve just got to tell you about this app called Simplify Media today. This is a great new tool for us music lovers out there. Have you ever wanted to have access to your iTunes from anywhere. Well this is what Simplify Media does. It lets you connect to your iTunes, and friends iTunes, through your iPhone or iPod Touch. How does this happen you ask? Well I’m sure it’s very complicated. I’ve done something like this before where I setup my Wii to access my iTunes library and it wasn’t fun at all, but the people at Simplify Media have really lived up to their name. This really is a very simple way to get access to your iTunes library with your iPhone. I’ll take you through it step by step, so get your iPhone and iTunes ready. If you still can’t get it to work I’ll post a video at the bottom for your viewing pleasure. I know some of us are visual learners. Ok, let’s go!
First, this app is still free in the app store. They say after 100,000 iPhone users download it it won’t be free anymore so GO GET IT HERE while you still can. After successfully getting the app for your iPhone head over to their website at simplifymedia.com, there you can grab the desktop app that will make all of the magic happen between your iTunes and your iPhone. Installing the app and setting it up is all automatic. You name the computer you are sharing from and that’s simply it. There are no firewall or network settings to mess with. Here is a screen shot of it running on my computer…
After you’ve got it running on both your desktop and iPhone you must sign up for an account! Another simple procedure but definitely the most important one out of them all. This is what links your devices together. Sign in after you launch the desktop app and it’s ready for you to share with the whole world. Well really you can only share your iTunes with 30 people with this app, but we’ll get to that in a second. Now login on your iPhone and like magic you should see your computer you setup under your account. Tap it and you are now in your iTunes library on the iPhone.
This works over all three ways on the iPhone. EDGE, Wifi, and 3G. My EDGE test were of course semi-slow and Wifi and 3G worked much faster. Just check out the video for the EDGE vs Wifi show down. My initial impressions of this app are wonderful. These kind of applications come in very handy for me when I make the 6 + hour treck to and from school. These are definitely life savers, especially when my girlfriend get’s restless in the car I can just hand her my iPhone and she’s got something to waste her time as I drive. Now if I could only convince her that she should get an iPhone 3G. Maybe you guys can leave comments and convince her to get one…
Anyway if you download this app please let me know your username so I can add you and check out your music! My username is Ryanr14, let’s be friends. Leave your thoughts on this app. Here’s the video below.
