iSteam & iFog Make My iPhone Hot And Steamy
January 7, 2009 by Ryan Ray
Well well well, as things are starting to settle down from all of the celebrations etc… I’ve been doing a bunch of reviewing just for you guys. With that, today I’ve got another video to go along with this post. I’m going to talk about these two apps, that in essence do the same thing. Even the names are similar, with that darn “i” prefix that Apple has made ever so popular. Both of these apps iSteam and iFog are a neat little novelty app. They’ll probably only stay on my iPhone for a little bit, but I think that’s what they are created for. They are %100 free apps, so follow those two links and get your free versions of both apps so you can test them out just like me!
First we’ll hit up iSteam. iSteam is the simpler of the two apps, and by simpler I mean has the least amount of options. Once you open up iSteam, there are two options to it once you are done playing in the steam. If you double tap the screen it will bring up your menu and you can see either choose the background, then there is the option to show your friends. If you choose your own background you can pick a picture either from your synced photos or from your camera roll. This makes it the background that you steam up. The other option to show your friends simply let’s you email your steam creation, such as if you drew “Hi Mom” in the steam you could email to your mom. I already emailed someone a message that I drew for them, could be good for some immature pranks. iSteam is definitely a plain and simple app, but fun to play with. Although it doesn’t have as many options as iFog it has one thing that makes it stand out. It has an accelerometer feature that let’s the condensation fall down the screen. Which gives it a more realistic touch, something iFog hasn’t done yet.
Now onto iFog. iFog is full of different features. Open up iFog and you are greeted with an easy instructional screen. Both of these apps are so simple to use anyway, but somehow they still need an instructional screen. Just blow into the mic! Anyway once the app loads there are two buttons in the bottom corners of the screen. The left one is an information button where you can visit the developers website, read the instructions, and even watch video instructions! The right one is where all of the good options are at. From this menu you can email, save, use the camera, choose from photo library, choose one of their backgrounds (you swipe through them), and my favorite part change your brush size. Now that’s a lot of options just for a steam app, but that’s what makes iFog good.
Overall both of these apps do the same thing. Blow into the mic, make steam, draw on it. Just like we did on our parents car windows when we were little. My mother used to hate it because the drawing would still be there for some time to come. Now with the iPhone simply shake it and your drawings go away. Personally I’d go for iFog just because it adds a lot more options than iSteam, but iSteam has that accelerometer function in it which makes it cool. What’s your choice? Just let me know, do enjoy the video below. If you prefer it in HD, click through the video to get in HD. Thanks for reading!
