Is This The New iPhone’s Bezel?

As we are all aware there is a new iPhone coming out this summer. To be honest I often forget that it’s summer time and that the WWDC is very close upon us. Not only does Apple use WWDC as a place to talk about their flagship operating system it’s often a great place for them to announce new hardware. This time around everyone is assuming they will be shedding light on the new operating system Snow Leopard, but that is besides the fact. The new iPhone is due this summer and they have used WWDC as the launching pad to not only show off the next generation of iPhones, but to announce when we can get our hands on it.
As you may know I sold my original iPhone and went and stood in line for the new iPhone 3G. I believe I was something like 8th in line at the store in my hometown, but I was the first out of the store with my iPhone 3G and man was I excited. Of course this year I will be doing it again. The upgrade from original to 3G was cool but from what I hear this iPhone is going to be a great upgrade and well worth it once again. The feeling of excitement and electricity is to powerful to ignore I must take part! Anyway there are again rumors of some slight cosmetic changes coming to the next generation of iPhones, and actually a picture has leaked of the supposed bezel. Here is the picture below.
As you can see first off, the bezel has gone black. This sort of resembles the bezel on the iPod Touch. For one I am not opposed to the Bezel going black. I think it will look good, and hopefully it won’t be polished so it doesn’t collect scratches so easily. The next change is that the earpiece has been moved higher up. Perhaps this is just for cosmetic reasons, but it could signal something even more. If the earpiece was moved up for a reason it could be that they needed to fit more in in that narrow panel above the screen. Maybe another sensor, or it’s finally that camera everyone has been talking about. We will find out soon enough won’t we?

What do you think? It doesn’t look to bad does it? If it isn’t terribly ugly in a mockup I have faith that it’s going to be slick when actually shown off, and like I said earlier the raised earpiece gives a lot of room. Especially if the camera was front and center to have all of the other sensors off to the side as they are now.
