Turn By Turn, Coming To The iPhone Today

So now that that’s out of the way you may be asking, this site is about iPhones right? Right! Then what does iPods have to do with the iPhone? Well supposedly Apple is really hyping up this event. Going so far as telling reporters that they will want to be there to see what Apple does. Could this be just a new hype method coming from Apple or is there really something worthwhile to see at this event? Well here is what I have heard about the iPhone.
Since this is an iPod event the iPod Touch will no doubt be revamped. Some simple cosmetic changes to bring it in line with the iPhone. It could be possibly getting things such as external volume controls, GPS, external speaker, etc… It should also be getting a nice price cut to make it once again cheaper than the iPhone. But what I’m really interested in is the rumor that the iPod Touch could be getting the 2.1 update. Apple has went on record and said expect this update in September and have also stopped seeding updates for 2.1, which could signal that it’s gone Gold Master.
Obviously if the iPod Touch is getting 2.1 it will in no time be released for the iPhone. And within 2.1 there are supposedly some great new features. Atleast we should be getting push notification services. Hopefully there Apple’s word is good, I’d love push notification for AIM. That’d come in handy for school and the such. There is a wave of excitement going around that Apple could also be launching a turn by turn app. Again Apple has come out and said they are working on it. It just has to jump through some hoops for whatever red tape reasons, then it can be released once a developer does it. I do believe a developer has already developed something. Because remember a few GPS companies came out and said they had already started work on it.
Among other things coming out I would love the new 2.1 software. Booya for iTunes 8, I’d like to see that! Tell me what rumors you’ve heard about this event that will happen in a few hours, and what ones you want to come to life or which ones are completely bogus.
