Drive A Jelly Car With The iPhone

I know we don’t do enough game reviews here at iPhonenuts, and by we I mean me…So starting now we are going to review a stinking game! I’ll admit it, that I am not a self proclaimed gamer. It’s just not in my personality. Don’t take me the wrong way though as completely against gaming. That’s not me at all. Back in my day I used to game ALL THE TIME on my computer . I played StarCraft, Warcraft, and Diablo II religiously. Came back from school in a hurry only to turn on a Beck CD and start up Star Craft and do some rushing, haha. Those were the days. 

Sadly I haven’t even stepped close to getting into the modern day gaming systems or games. Sometimes in the back of my mind I think, “Maybe I’m going to buy a PS3 sometime soon. I mean it does have a Blu-Ray player in it.” The more I discuss that with myself I realize that I watch all my movies through the AppleTV and never have time to play games anyway. I must admit that I am guilty of buying Assassins for the PS3 though. My roommate has a PS3 and we played that all during last year. For some reason though I still can’t get into gaming fully. I can’t bring myself to hooking up my headset and getting online to play Call of Duty 4 or Halo ALL day. Don’t even get me started on WoW! Maybe I am afraid of becoming addicted to these games, but none the less let’s chat about this iPhone game.

This iPhone game is called Jelly Car, and the name gives a good description of what the game is. To sum it up, you drive a little Jelly Car around the strange jelly levels. Funny enough I had a hard time putting my iPhone down on a recent trip back home from school. It’s a 6 hour drive at minimum so plenty of time for me to try and beat these levels. As you can see from the first screen shot, this is the welcome screen. Each of those little squares are levels. Simply tap and pick a level to play. It will show you the time to beat on these levels. Once you get into the game it’s really simple to play. To drive the car, hold either the right side of the screen or left and the car will go in that direction. You can, and will have to for some levels make the car BIGGER. To make it bigger just double tap the car and it grows twice as big. You have a meter in the top left corner to see how much time you have left as a big car. Jelly Car is also sensitive to the orientation of the iPhone. This has come in handy for me when I need to flip the car over after I landed it on it’s roof many times. The levels all range in difficulty, but for the most part are pretty simple. To me that’s what makes it fun. They take a little brain function to figure out how to beat them, but they aren’t impossible. Really the games about beating the time you previously had set, or that someone had set for that level. That’s what I tried to do after beating all of the levels.

As you can see in the screen shots below the graphics on this game are cheesy but very fun. I like them quite a bit. Also as you can see you can zoom in and out on the game in each level. It let’s you see what’s ahead for the most part. To zoom in or out use the pinch motion we are all so used to when looking at photos. Overall for a free game, this one ROCKS. I’ve become addicted to it, and personally I think that’s hard for me to become addicted to a game. Especially one as simple as this. Check it out HERE, tell me is this fun or not?
