What The iPhone Needs; Nested Texting

May 15, 2010 by Ryan Ray · 2 Comments

Here we are again with another installment of the ever so popular series called, What The iPhone Needs. It’s simply a place where I can rant about what I think the iPhone should have. Really they are either stupid complaints or simple improvements on the existing iPhone. So today I wanted to rant/talk about the SMS app on the iPhone. I’ve never used any other texting app, although maybe I should do some research and see if any others solve my problem. I’ve always just used the standard, Apple supplied texting app. If you know of any better texting apps let me know, I’m open to trying something new.

The Verizon iPhone Coming Summer 2010

May 13, 2010 by Ryan Ray · 5 Comments

This is an exciting time of the summer, school is out for me and many others. Nice spring weather is here, and the next iPhone is so close I can almost feel it. The rumor mills are churning more and more out every day about the next gen iPhone. Of course nothing fuels the flames of the mills more than the iPhone coming to Verizon. Remember when the first iPhone was about to come out and Verizon turned it down due to Apple’s demands. Now they are begging for another chance to have it. Plus Apple may be getting tired of dealing with only AT&T and their problems.

iWork On My iPhone?

May 11, 2010 by Ryan Ray · 1 Comment

We all don’t have iPads, although all of us wish we did. The iPad is lucky enough to have a whole suite of office apps called iWork from Apple waiting for you in the app store. So what are we to do when it comes to typing a long email, or even yet creating a spreadsheet or document? Perhaps this solution exist out there in the jailbreak world, but I would love to have iWork available on my iPhone. Maybe Microsoft Office, but I’ve always found iWork to be a lot cleaner and easier to use. We’ve all seen iWork on the iPad, and even though the iPhone doesn’t have quite as big of a screen I think it could work. Here’s how…

Where Is Tethering AT&T?

May 10, 2010 by Ryan Ray · 1 Comment

The iPhone has been a phenomenon for AT&T.  AT&T has exclusive rights to sell the iPhone since they have catered to Apple’s demands. This was a smart move by AT&T. It’s rumored that Steve Jobs first took his iPhone baby to Verizon to work out a deal. Verizon being the cell phone Nazis that they are said heck no to Apple’s terms. I bet that decision has been a sore spot in their company for the last 3 years. While Verizon’s time with the iPhone is sure to come there is the current issue of in the U.S. you’re only able to get the iPhone if you switch to or already use AT&T. Funny enough the iPhone has that kind of power to make a lot of people switch. It also has the power to make people switch away from AT&T. While I can’t whole heartedly blame them, AT&T was not and is still not ready for the sole responsibility of the iPhone.

iPhone vs Canon 7D

May 3, 2010 by Ryan Ray · 8 Comments

Hey everyone, hope the weekend has been kind to you. I hope you’ve been reading and staying up to date with all the iPhone stuff lately. Don’t let the iPad overshadow your love for the iPhone. So let’s get into it for today.

Obviously after reading the title you can get a hint that I’m not entirely serious about putting these two up to battle in terms of features, quality, etc…The 7D would crush the iPhone if we are talking about technical specifications.Rather I’ll be putting these two head to head in theory of convenience. When I need to shoot something which is my go to device? What situations lend themselves to the iPhone or 7D, etc… So instead of talking about apertures, lens available, frames per second, etc… Let’s just consider the convenience factor.

Flash On The iPhone?

April 30, 2010 by Ryan Ray · 1 Comment

Who wants Flash on their iPhone? Please raise your hands, then if you wouldn’t mind please help me understand why the iPhone would benefit from Flash. I’m not wanting to start a flame war, just give me your honest opinion on why the iPhone should have Flash on it. If you are wondering why I’m asking this age old question then you’ve missed out on some news this week.

Steve Jobs has come out with another one of his famous ‘open letters’ and this time it’s directed at Adobe and Flash. First you can start by reading it, Thoughts On Flash. Then shortly after that the same day, the CEO of Adobe granted an interview to which he tried to rebuttle everything Steve Jobs said. If you’d like to read more here is that interview, Adobe On Flash. So after digesting both of those here is what I think. Read on to get my humble opinion on Flash and Flash on the iPhone.

Metronome Faceoff

April 27, 2010 by Ryan Ray · 4 Comments

The metronome has been on my mind quite a bit lately. I’ve been in the studio recording with John Tibbs, and we’ve noticed how inexperienced we are with the metronome. Although I have practiced quite a bit to a metronome our tracks still aren’t perfect and it’s only a little annoying that I can’t play the drums like a machine. All through high school I practiced my rudiments, fills, and beats to a click. I’ve obviously been a little out of regular practice thanks to college consuming most of my time, which is ANNOYING. None the less, when it comes to the iPhone you can easily find a good metronome. I’ve actually found two that I am going to put up head to head today and see what you guys and gals think about each.

Thoughts On iPhone 4G Prototype

April 26, 2010 by Ryan Ray · Leave a Comment

Wait, that’s potentially what it could look like? I’m in love! When the prototype of a potential iPhone case design leaked I was in shock. How did this leak happen to Apple, the worlds most secretive company. Sure enough though, it’s real. If you really want to read all about the leaked prototype check out Gizmodo and their all encompassing coverage of the iPhone 4G Prototype. But if you are sticking around for a minute please let me divulge in my thoughts about the device.

Opera… It’s Alright

April 15, 2010 by Ryan Ray · 1 Comment

I think hell has frozen over, because Opera and their mobile web browser was approved and is now up for download in the App store. Can you believe that? I mean really, it’s a little crazy to think. Doesn’t this go against Apple’s own terms of service? None the less we must all live with reality and say that Safari has some competition headed its way! This is a good thing. I hope this makes way for things like Firefox, IE6… HAH just kidding about that. So check out what Opera Mini looks like.

iPhone OS 4.0 Is Here

April 8, 2010 by Ryan Ray · Leave a Comment

Today is the day Apple takes the wraps off of iPhone OS 4.0, and I’m actually excited and really left in the dark about what they could be bringing besides multitasking. I’m not getting my hopes up though, for fear of disappointment. I’ve lived fine without multitasking but in other areas I’m really looking forward to what Apple will bring forward today. I hope that if possible you all will be following the live streams. Just click on the following links to see each sites unique coverage. I usually have these 3 or more open at the same time, just so I don’t miss anything…
