AppShopper Review

September 7, 2010 by Ryan Ray

This is definitely going to be a cool thing to use in the future. The website AppShopper.com has just released their very own iPhone app. A great move on their part, I’m definitely a fan. If you’ve never used AppShopper before their site will help you find apps that have been updated, price changed, etc… It’s a great community to find new apps, it’s also a great place for smaller developers to get some exposure. Just be sure to check out the site to see for yourself what I’m talking about.

I use the site to often find apps I wouldn’t find either through word of mouth or through the iTunes app store. They highlight awesome sales that usually only last for a day, and highlight good deals. For instance I caught 1Password Pro for free through this site! I love their software. Anyway let’s talk about the app itself, because it’s really well made.

Here is the icon, down in the lower right corner. Beauty.

Once you’ve popped into the app here is the home screen showing you what is the most popular at the moment on the site. There are a lot of categories and options to choose as to what you’ll see on the home page. The default of course is to show everything.

Some options that I thought were cool enough to talk about were the option to choose what device you want to find apps for. iPhone, iPad, and Universal. Then you can select apps via the cost, etc…

Another cool part that takes the app even further is signing up for a user account. If you use your account you can have things like your apps, where you can keep track of the apps you have. There is also a wish list feature to further watch apps for changes and sales, etc… Super cool.

Like I said if you are really into seeking out apps then this is a great app itself to help you do that. It’s fun, well made and well thought out! Except for that iAd at the top about guys meeting guys… I’m excited to use the iPhone app more as it eliminates the middle step of downloading it to your iTunes then syncing it up to your computer. Now I can just get the app straight on my iPhone if I find something cool. As always let me know what you think and thanks for reading!
