Apple Store App
August 31, 2010 by Ryan Ray
Hey everyone surfing out there in iPhone land. How about that iPhone 4? We’ll talk more about that later. First let’s mention the online Apple store. Apple finally got around to making an app for the iPhone where you can shop for all Apple products online. All is well in the app, it’s easy to use and is your staple online store app. Has all their products, categories, cart, store finder, etc… I always wonder if anyone out there will be ordering more Apple products from their iDevices more so than they would just walking into the stores, but I guess Apple saw a need for this app so let’s check it out.
Below is the app icon, top tow third icon. It is similar and not similar to their other two store apps. It has the sunburst and white icon but not as much glam and glitter. Also take note that this app isn’t ready for the iPhone 4′s screen. Isn’t that weird that Apple made this app and knew what was coming with the iPhone 4, hopefully they did… and the app isn’t retina ready! A major setback for me since along with this app Apple has a remote app that isn’t updated for the iPhone 4. Apple’s own apps aren’t all ready, wonder what the deal is.
So here below is the first thing you’ll see upon opening the app. Their newest and hottest products on the home page ready to buy, so get your credit cards ready shoppers! It’s very similar to their normal site as the adverts are similar, colors are similar. The whole feel is similar, so props to them on that.
If you go under the products you’ll see again their new and very hot items. It’s no surprise that the iPhone 4 and the iPad are at the top.
The next feature is one thing I really quite like in the app. Although not ground breaking it’s nice to see them promote their retail stores a little more with this feature. Their retail stores are a lot of fun to shop at, and if I am in the mood for a new Apple product I’d much rather go into the store and pick it up. Luckily with one only around 27 miles away, I can do that pretty easily.
Besides these 3 sections of the app you have a search function and then you can check out your cart and buy some expensive gadgets! The app is pretty standard, but it does it’s job. Like I said, if I wasn’t living near an Apple store I would definitely consider buying through this app. They’ve just done such a good job with their retail stores that I’d rather go in and purchase. Now if Apple could just get this app ready for the iPhone 4′s retina display everything would be peachy for me. Now it’s time for you to voice your opinion, would you use this app to buy products, surf for stuff, find a store? Or if you are like me let me know! Thanks for reading.
